1. Let Your Purse Speak Template
This is a letter that you can send to companies letting them know you’ll no longer be purchasing their products as long as they continue to portray men in a negative light. Money talks!

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am a woman who is concerned about the negative message about men that is so pervasive in the media today. I believe it’s doing harm in the following ways:
~ impacting men’s sense of self;
~ contributing to women’s decreased respect for men;
~ teaching our kids disrespect for men (including their fathers);
Your (fill in the blank here with the product, or program, or whatever you’ve decided to stop buying or participating in), which I have (loved/enjoyed/appreciated/grown up with, etc.) over the years, is currently portraying men in a negative light through (share what you perceive here).
It is my hope that you will do something to correct this, and in the very near future. In the meantime, I will not be (buying/watching/participating in) your (product/show, etc).

Here is a response that you can use (and modify) when a friend or colleague sends you unwanted derogatory jokes about men.
“Although I know you don’t mean any harm by forwarding these types of jokes, I am learning that everything we do that adds to the negative portrayal of men hurts us all: men, women and families. I don’t know what you want to do about this situation, but I for one am going to stop sending them around. Please take me off your man-bashing jokes distribution list. Thanks!”
